Thoughts

One of the most wonderful things about keeping an art journal, I think, is the range of thoughts and emotions you can capture within it—when I choose a picture for a page, I don’t always know what it’s going to end up “saying”…

…from a bit of humor from a wonderfully strong woman who has always inspired me,

…to a simple, perfectly true thought from the great Aristotle himself…

…whimsically royal thoughts…

…adventurous thoughts from a true adventurer—to something a bit more sober…

When I chose this beautiful statue’s face for this page, I had no idea what “she” would one day say.  Yesterday, I found out, sadly.  The events in my beloved Boston broke my heart—but this time, a tragedy seen on television struck very close to this heart of mine.

{my sister-in-law kneeling on the finish line the day before the race, dreaming of her run across that line the next day.   Little did she—or any of us know…}

My sister-in-law had just crossed the finish line of the Marathon 20 seconds before the first bomb detonated.  2o seconds.  My brother was right there, as well, cheering his wife on.  They saw, felt and heard it all, and they are forever changed…

Our family was so very blessed that they were both perfectly safe and are now home with their family.    And our hearts break for those whose family members are not.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them…
