Little Sister

DSC05533_edited-1

Hello, dear friends!

Just a short little post for you today…a few sweet memories to share inspired by two wonderful new sets from Vintage Street Market…

Family Fashion Accessory Kit

{The Family Fun Paper Kit and Family Fashion Accessory Kits are available here!}

Family Fun Paper Kit

Paper Dolls!  What could possibly be more fun?!  These were waiting for me when I got home from vacation a few weeks ago, and I finally had a chance to play with them yesterday…

One of  the paper dolls—this sweet blondie here—reminded me so much of my Mom’s sister, Judy, that I just had to make a little memory page…

Mom always wanted a sister…and finally, when she was  11, she got her wish…

She was absolutely thrilled with her new little sister…and being so much older (but still just a girl herself!), she considered Judy “her dolly”.

{Sheet of little sister clothes from Vintage Street Market’s “Family Fun Paper Kit”}

She sewed clothes for Judy, took her along to friends’ houses with her, played dress-up with her…

…fixed her hair, made fun little things for her…

…she even wrote a heartbreakingly beautiful poem about her, which I’ll share with you another day…

…they called each other “Pal”…

Life was not to last a long time for this little one…it was discovered she was blind when she was 3 years old—cancer.

DSC05535_edited-1 {Lilac” Baker’s twine used here and there on the page…comes in so very handy!}

My mom would take her little sister for walks…talking together, trying to help her “see” things as they walked along holding hands…

DSC05537_edited-1 {“Linen” Cellophane Tape from Vintage Street Market…really adds a vintage feel to your projects}

Sharing a bedroom, they would fall asleep talking to each other about the day…sharing the things that sisters share…

Even though her life was short, it was filled with oh, so much joy—the joy she felt in life herself, and the joy she gave in great abundance to her family and those around her…

…life is meant to be joyful!

I hope your day is filled with joy…See you soon with something new…

Crafty Secrets DT Challenge: FAIRIES

Over_the_Moon_by_Julie_Campbell_edited-1

Hello, my friends!

Oh, my!  We’ve been gone again…this time, at a beach house for the week--I promise--that was our LAST summer trip!

We had such a lovely time with family--but I’m so happy to be home again, knowing that we’re here to stay for a while!

Well, it’s time once again for a wonderful challenge for the Crafty Secrets Design Team—this time, FAIRIES was our theme…just about my favorite thing!

DSC02382_edited-1

First of all, here are a couple of little fairy projects I put together this weekend…

DSC05507_edited-1

“You were born to fly”, it says…a perfect saying for this sweet little fairy from Crafty Secrets’ brand new “Born to Fly” stamp set…

DSC05500_edited-1

…paper patterns printed from my computer using Crafty Secrets’ “Creating with Vintage Patterns” CD

DSC05496_edited-1

…just a bit of paper-piecing on the fairy—my favorite technique—with just a touch of pink for a little fairy glow on her cheeks…{LOTS of sparkle on the wings, too, of course!}

And next…

DSC05510_edited-1

…another little cutie-pie from “Altered Fairies” Creative Scraps.  The nest on the bingo image, as well as birdie, wings and eggs are found there, as well…

DSC05518_edited-1

…the pretty blue & white print is from the “Creating with Vintage Patterns” CD…

DSC05515_edited-1

…easy-peasy!

I also thought I’d share some of my favorite fairy projects done during this last year with you today…

Let’s start with some fabulous shadowbox cards designed by the amazing Vicki Chrisman…

DSC02400_edited-1

I love the images on this card—all fromLove Mail Creative Scraps—so many gorgeous images in this set!

And here we have images taken from Altered Fairies Creative Scraps as well as "Birds & Botanicals Images & Journal Notes booklet…

…more images from Altered Fairies”, with the center panel from the beautiful Little Dolls Images & Journal Notes booklet…

Now for some fun, silly little cards…

I just love this pouty fairy—what a little grump!  She needed a crown, of course…maybe it will cheer her up eventually! {all elements from “Altered Fairy” Creative Scraps}

No grumpy fairy here!  I love this sweet little birthday baby…sitting on top of her very own HIGHLY glittered cupcake! {“Altered Fairies” Creative Scraps}

…and last, but not least…a little badge I made for myself, using one of my very favorite of all the fairy images…this little fairy on the moon…I just LOVE her!  {“Altered Fairies” Creative Scraps}

See that little pocket watch hanging from the moon?

Follow after your Bliss”, it so wisely says……you know, I think I will…

I hope you’ll take a few minutes & visit the other girls on the Design Team—I promise you’ll find SO much to inspire you!
