Laundry Day

DSC01772_edited-1

Good afternoon, my friends—and happy June!

Ahhhh…it’s so good to be home!  I’ve missed our visits, too!  Almost a week of no blogging…that’s tough!

We had a lovely long weekend, though.  Hope you all did, too!  Visited with my husband’s sister and her family in beautiful San Juan Capistrano near San Diego…I’ll have some photos to share in my next post…you’ll wish you’d been there, too!

For today, just happy to be home…getting things back to normal…doing the laundry…

…which helped inspired my card for today:

This week’s challenge over at Splitcoast in the Crafty Secrets’ forum is to use Kraft paper in our cards…happy to do it!

I have to admit, that although I love Kraft, I don’t always remember to use it, so I love being reminded!

A lovely bit of Battenburg lace, some Martha Stewart “Ladybug” bias tape ribbon, buttons, twine, miniature clothespins, and platinum Stickles…

This adorable image comes from Crafty Secrets’ “Little Dolls” Images & Journal Notes booklet…and from the wonderful artwork of one of my very favorites…

maud humphrey

…Maud Humphrey Bogart.

She was born in 1868, and was very famous for her illustrations for children’s books, advertisements, and postcards…but her greatest claim to fame was being the mother of…

maud's son

Humphrey Bogart!  His little baby face even graced the labels of a pre-Gerber line of baby food…Mellins.

Here’s a bit of her beautiful work…

Her work was popular from the 1890’s through the 1920’s.  She passed away in 1940 in Hollywood.

In the early 1990’s, some of her illustrations were translated into figurines, of which I collected a few…here’s one of them…

Well, that’s it for today!  Hope you enjoyed a little peek at Maud and her beautiful work…see you soon with something new…
