Even More Queenliness

Royal Mail releases Diamond Jubilee stamps

My second installment of wonderful images from my grandparents’ Coronation Souvenir magazine from June 1953…

I wish I could just share the whole magazine with you, but these are some of my favorite images…

Isn’t this wonderful?  The whole family on the balcony together…doesn’t Elizabeth look happy?

Such adorable ads were found on these pages, as well…here’s one for a whitening powder…

…both dresses look pretty white to me!

And more history to see--

My daughter pointed out that she doesn’t think she’s ever seen a picture of Lady Churchill—I don’t think I have either, come to think of it!

So much lovely color here and there in a mostly black & white publication…

And a few more ads to share…

And a product I use whenever I can find it—just the think for a nice trifle…

I actually just bought a tin of it last week at Cost Plus before I’d photographed images for the post—serendipity!

See you soon with something new…

Diamond Jubilee

Diamond Jubilee 2012

Earlier this year, I found this at my parents’ house among my grandparents’ things…just one more piece of her life that she kept so very carefully…

Dow & Velda 1

Great lovers of travel, they visited all around the world.  A favorite stop: Jolly Old England.

They just happened to  be there during Queen Elizabeth’s coronation year—1953, and brought home this beautiful souvenir magazine to remember it by…

…and I thought I’d share just a little of it with you here before the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration year was completely past…

I’ve always loved England, it being such a large part of my family heritage—and I’ve loved all the beautiful Diamond Jubilee coverage and art that’s come of it, so this magazine was just the icing on the cake for me!

Filled with beautiful photographs of Elizabeth on her very special day…

Little glimpses into the royal family—one of my particular favorites:

…such a sweet moment caught—the Queen Mother answering questions from her little grandson…Prince Charles.

Can you imagine being photographed by so many for so long on such an occasion?  I can imagine it’s exhausting!  But with Elizabeth did it with such queenly grace…

…as she’s continued to do for the last 60 years…

Queen Elizabeth

There were too many wonderful pictures from the magazine I wanted to share to put in this one post, so I’ll have more to show you in my next…

Wishing you a jubilatiously wonderful day…
