Crafty Secrets’ Design Team Halloween Challenge….and a Little Treat!

Good morning, dear friends!

I hope it was a wonderful weekend for you all…a busy one here, as usual…fun, friends…the Renaissance Faire…

Here we are…another month, another Crafty Secrets challenge for those of us on the Design Team…always a fun time to use new product and try something different!

This month, we were to focus on the new Halloween products…here’s just a couple of them…

“Halloween” Creative Scraps

 

“Halloween Treats” large stamp set…

For my project this month, I decided to make a chipboard booklet out of one of the new Maya Road chipboard sets Crafty Secrets will now be selling…

And here are some of the individual images:

I just chose some fun Halloween-themed papers…these are all either Graphic 45 or retired Stampin’ Up papers…

…glued them to the chipboard pieces,  sanded the edges & grunged them up with some Vintage Photo Distress Ink…

…added the main images, taken from Crafty Secrets’ “Halloween” Creative Scraps, “Halloween” Images & Journal Notes booklet, and their “Seasonal” Images & Journal Notes booklet…

…added a bit of glitter for some sparkle…

…framed some of the images or the overall star with platinum Stickles…

…added ribbon, lace, buttons,  pom-pom or rick-rack trim…

…then tied it all up together!

…sprayed the chipboard tag with some yummy Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Mist…

…a wonderful jumble of vintage, sparkly Halloween goodness!

 

To close up--this is a couple of weeks late in coming, but my first blog anniversary was at the end of August, so I think it’s time for a little giveaway!

Enjoy the Journey…

Good afternoon, my friends!

What an interesting week it’s been…full of so many things to keep me busy…and things to test my patience! 

Our computer got a nasty virus on Monday, but was thankfully quickly fixed on Tuesday…our dishwasher broke last night.  I love my dishwasher.  I was just bragging about my dishwasher a few days ago.  I guess I shouldn’t have done that!

Little things get in our way and try to take away our happiness, don’t they?  Sometimes I let them do just that…and I shouldn’t.

As I was making my card last night, I realized how perfect it was for me, and what a good  lesson it was reminding me of…

 

What a fun, nostalgic image from Crafty Secrets’ brand new “Vintage Photos” Creative Scraps—quickly becoming a favorite of mine!

…some lovely Graphic 45 paper, lace, ribbon, a few vintage mother-of-pearl buttons, a touch of platinum Stickles for some sparkle, and I glammed up a white flower with some Gold Glimmer Mist…love that stuff!

This cute old couple got me thinking about some of my favorite couples from both my husband’s and my side of the family from over the last 150 years or so…and of course, I thought I’d share some of them with you…

Vintage News...

Good morning, my friends!

Oh, my!  What a horrible blogger I've been this last week!  So sorry that I haven't been visiting in the last few days...I'll try to catch up!  I've had a big project I've been working on for Splitcoast, and when you're a procrastinator like me, well...things get a little scary as the deadline looms ahead (today!)

With that being said, today's post will be short and sweet.  I've got some errands to run and then some kind people are coming over to try and save my poor, lovely computer.  We got some kind of terrible virus last night, so I'm working now on our old, slow, tired computer...yuck.  Oh, well! 

I made a fun little card last night with a new set of Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets:

...pulled out the sewing machine for this one...a little crocheted lace, my favorite mother-of-pearl buttons, some yummy "putty" seam binding courtesy of Miss Martha Stewart, a touch of platinum Stickles, and that's about it!

This image reminded me of one of my favorite photos of my mother, Karen, when she was a little girl...

Isn't she adorable???  Mom said this was staged...someone's glasses (can't remember who's), and they had her holding this "True Story" magazine, which, to my memory, was like the old-school version of The Enquirer (only probably much more tame!)  Love those cute, dimply little girl knees, Mom!

Well, there you have it.  That's all I have for you today...keep your fingers crossed for my beloved computer...I want it to be all better quick!
