With the Heart

DSC03318_edited-1

“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly”, said Antoine de St. Exupery.  One of my favorite quotes found in one of my favorite books read when I was a young girl—and the thought has not left my mind ever since…

Other favorite thoughts wove their way through my journaling this last week or so…even mermaid thoughts…{I was certain I was meant to be one when I was a little girl!}

Thoughts on the written word.  Always very close to my heart…

And gardening…ah, gardening!  I’ve let other things get in my way the last few years—this year, however, I will find myself in the garden every day.  The bit of dirt I see still under my nails as I type is proof of my plan.

The blooming, sweet-smelling jasmine coming through my window today fills my heart with joy~~spring is definitely here!

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly;  what is essential is invisible to the eye.”  True.  So very true.

  1. Julie, love your work, a personal journal of some sort? I am not a true scrapbooker so not real knowledgeable with journals. Yes this fire has been a real gross experience. I was just getting over the flu/cold thing again and now this... that is why I am staying indoors. I am just hopping the wind shifts and blows this air out to sea! Have a great weekend, Hugs, Diane

  3. I love letters and journals that are written by hand. Before my brother was lost at sea, he was living aboard his sailboat off the island of Yap in the Marshall Islands. I have a stack of letters that he wrote home telling us about the island and how very much he loved living there.
    Then, after my mother passed away and I was going through her stuff I found a couple spiral notebooks where she was journaling about her daily life . . . these are now both treasures to me, and I love to get them down off the shelf and re-read them. It makes me feel very contented, even though they are both gone from this world.
    I could not do that with phone calls . . . hand written notes from people you love . . . are the best :)
    I loved reading your post and your art work is amazing. Connie :)

  10. I love coming across the handawritten recipes of my mother, gone for many years. Seeing her handwriting is like being touched by her breeze. I keep them so I can come across them in unexpected places.
