Thoughts of Spring…

DSC00611_edited-1

Hello, my friends!

You see that beautiful rainbow? This was what we saw in our backyard a couple of days ago…How could I not have thoughts of Spring with that going on?!

Ahhhhh…winter in California…(sorry!)

With that in mind, I made a couple of Springy projects yesterday, and had so much fun with them!

First off…

DSC00623_edited-1

…a little  card, just for fun…in colors of deep apricot and chocolate brown…with a beautiful new (to me) paper collection called “Grandma’s Attic Collectibles” from TPC Studio…love it!

DSC00625_edited-1

A sweet image from Crafty Secrets’ “Birds & Blossoms” Creative Scraps…touched with just a bit of fine iridescent  glitter.

And a doily fan…very simply to make…a few pleats here and there…grunge it up, add a bit of Iridescent Glimmer Mist, and that’s it!  I added some old peachy gauze and a few paper roses, which were tinted with Glimmer Mist.

“Believe in Yourself”…not a bad idea!

Next…

This was originally going to just be a card…but I kept adding things…having fun…feeling all springy…and this happened!

DSC00645_edited-1

I used images from Crafty Secrets’ “Altered Fairy” Creative Scraps, and just kept cutting, layering and popping things up…it’s so fun to just get carried away once in a while!

And my favorite part—I decided to use this frame from Vicki Chrisman’s fabulous portrait shadowbox card die…so fun to use and available through Crafty Secrets…

As I was working on this, I kept thinking of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”…everything green and flowery…and fairyish!  The beautiful new “Once Upon a Springtime” collection from Graphic 45 sure made went along with my theme beautifully…

And if it wasn’t flowery enough…a couple of bright & fabulous Prima flowers on the frame…

DSC00632_edited-1

I used Tim Holtz’ Crackle Paint in Shutter Green on the frame, then rubbed in a little “Vintage Photo” Distress ink…very shabby!

DSC00644_edited-1

Well, that’s it for me today…hope you’re enjoying the day, whatever your weather.  Just remember…

…Spring is on it’s way!

  5. Thank you for the inspiration. Now that I am finding my way back to crafting because of reading inspiring blogs, I will look for Tim Holt products. Don't laugh, but Tim Holt was a character in a serieds I read about 20 years ago so I have work to do. I appreciate the extra motivation, the end result is spendid.

  15. Do you mind if I visit this post several times a day for a while just to imagine that there's a place that looks this lovely in the winter? I was emailing Betty Bates (She's Sew Pretty)yesterday, and she was going out to WEED! That just sounded so funny to me....in January! California is mighty nice in the winter months.
I love fairies and birds so your latest art piece is so appealing! Your wheels must be spinning all the time!
    Have a lovely Sunday!

  18. Your pic makes me homesick for SLO! Love January on the central coast. One of the best months of the year. My grandpa called winter in California "sucker season". Because you could sell real estate to easterners in about 2 seconds. Love all your projects. Mimio

we are a loooooong way away from spring. we have been below zero most of this whole week. I want to get outside and do "something" but just not that enjoyable in this cold.
I think I am suffering from a little cabin fever...in my 950 square foot house.
    HELP!!!!!! I need a rainbow.
