Touched

DSC02679_edited-1

I’ve lived my life surrounded by the things that others have touched--made or used—loved by their hands.

Some of those hands I touched—some were gone long before I came here—but I love those hands just the same…

Things worn on significant occasions…

As I walked through my house this  quiet morning—seeing these and oh, so many more evidences of other lives--I feel surrounded by the love of all those I can no longer see….

And I am touched.

Jumbled

DSC02660_edited-1

The mind is a funny thing.  So much swirling around in there…things to do, people to see, words to say…the past, the present, the future—all combined in our head.

No wonder it’s hard to focus sometimes!

DSC02642_edited-2

I think that’s one of the reasons I’ve come to love journaling so much…

DSC02674_edited-1

…not only does it fulfill my creative needs—painting, pasting, writing, getting messy--but it gives my thoughts and memories have a place to spill out.  Organize.  Imagine.  Play.

DSC02653_edited-1

Memories of those I’ve loved, things I’ve done, thoughts I’ve had…

DSC02656_edited-1

…combined with the thoughts and ideas of those much, much wiser than myself.  Thoughts which then become part of me.

DSC02649_edited-1 {the  purple heart illustrates what happens to a jumbled mind: my pen decided the quote was by Louisa May Alcott, when in fact Miss Jane Austen said it.  Purple heart takes care of that…}

All these words, images & messes jumble out together on page after page.

And they make me very, very happy.

See you soon with something new…

Just a Spoonful of Sparkle

DSC02581_edited-1

This lazy early March afternoon was a bit gloomy for picture-taking, but the sparkle on my subjects made me forget all about it…

DSC02584_edited-1

A bit more fun recently playing with a few of my favorite things—a recent discovery: Lisa M. Pace’s gorgeously inspiring doll heads, for one, and a few of my favorite adornments, for another!

DSC02578_edited-1

Vintage spoons were painted with black gesso (another new favorite toy!), then each was lined with a favorite sparkle: vintage pearls, brilliant rhinestones, or real silver German glitter…

DSC02598_edited-1

I’m quite happy with this little trio…think I’ll playing with more very soon!

DSC02594_edited-1

Wishing you plenty of sparkle in your day!
