Time Flies

DSC00956_edited-1

Floating on through the first week of October…where does the time go?!

DSC00945_edited-1

A few more journal pages to share…this is where my heart is right now…giving me so much joy--gluing, painting, doodling—and learning from the lovely thoughts of those much wiser than I am…

Have you ever wondered how many sayings of Benjamin Franklin’s we use on a regular basis?  I think I’ll look into that.  One smart gentleman, that Mr. Franklin!

And this one…gives me lots of peace.  As I worked on it, I kept hearing the beautiful Shaker hymn in my head:  “Tis a gift to be simple, tis a gift to be free…”.

I couldn’t agree more.  Life gets pretty complicated and messy these days, doesn’t it?  Maybe time to slow down a little bit…

And one last HURRAH for summer…I love this faceless little girl—pieced together with lovely collage bits…It was a VERY good summer…

Hope you’re enjoying your moments…they fly away much too quickly…Take some time to do the things that bring you joy….

Falling for Fall

DSC00863_edited-1

Can you believe September has come and gone already?

A couple of cute little witches to welcome us into October…

 DSC00860_edited-1

Layers of fall color and patterns--

And my new favorite toy:

DSC00864_edited-1

Lovely, old sealing wax—I’ve always loved the style of it.  Love seeing it used in my favorite period films to seal a love letter…now giving a little texture to my projects.

And a bit of journaling to preserve a few found leaves…

Layers of iridescent of watercolor in autumn hues as background…a bit of torn patterned paper, a stamp or two…

DSC00867_edited-1

…and some beautiful leaves found on a family drive up in the canyons of Utah last week while visiting my parents…

DSC00870_edited-1

What a lovely way to remember a perfectly beautiful day with the ones I love…

DSC00868_edited-1

And a beautiful quote from Emily Bronte—how perfect is this?  Just how I felt in the crisp, mountain air that afternoon—watching the bright, colorful leaves as they swirled down from the maple trees all around me…

DSC00871_edited-1

Isn’t Mother Nature amazing?  This leaf really caught my eye—so much so that I just plucked it right off a willing tree.

Wishing you a beautiful autumn day……………………….

Good Advice

DSC00842_edited-1

A few more journal pages to share with you…

DSC00848_edited-1 {this beautiful vintage lady just seemed perfect to represent Miss Dickenson…}

While we were away visiting my parents this last week, my journal was my artistic outlet…so easy to tote along with me, with only a couple of favorite pens to have to bring as well…

DSC00847_edited-1 {I love the simplicity of Emily Dickenson…she said it all so beautifully & so concisely.  Label from Crafty Secrets}

…pages already prepared with paint or pretty paper were easy to doodle & write on while watching a movie with the family…

DSC00852_edited-1

I really think this one may have been inspired by my being able to spend so much one-on-one time with my mother this week…!

DSC00856_edited-2

Were we all told these same things?  Or was it just me?!

 DSC00836_edited-1

Isn’t that a wonderful quote?  Gives another dimension to the thought of being charming, doesn’t it?

DSC00838_edited-1

After I wrote this on the label, I just started doodling little “charms” without really realizing what I was doing for a minute…the funny one on the right is a scotty dog, by the way—one of my favorite charms—I’m just not the greatest doggie artist! {but that’s okay!}

So, whether the advice you take today is from Miss Dickenson, your mother, or someone else just as brilliant…it’s usually a very good thing.

Wishing you a charming day……
