Valentines to Keep

A new little book for me to play in…thoughts of Valentines past, sweet memories of hearts & flowers and other lovely things…

…favorite vintage Valentine images chosen—cutting & pasting to my heart’s content…pages covered with little messages of love delivered long ago…

{the day was a bit gloomy to be taking pictures, but what’s a girl to do?!}

…and now gathered together in my little Valentine journal.

And I love it so, so much!

Inspired by the Victorian scrapbooks that young girls and women kept in days gone by, and by my sweet Valentine scrapbook purchased a couple of years ago that I wrote about here…

I’ll fill these pages—some this year, some in years to come—with thoughts of the heart…

Beautiful poems, sweet sayings from one sweetheart to another, lovely memories--and some awkward ones--of my Valentine days long past…

A favorite sonnet from the Bard couldn’t be left out here—one of my very favorite thoughts of love…

And more to come.

Sweet Charlottes

{a lovely bunch of champagne-colored vintage pearls surround this lovely Charlotte head}

I’ve always had a weakness for these little beauties…don’t know why—I just have.

And this one, small and imperfect, is just as sweet to me as any could be. Purchased this summer at an antique shop in a little old town…

The owner told me she (my tiny Charlotte) had been made in the 1880s, and had been found—along with some of her sisters—buried in the dirt outside of the long-shut-down doll factory in Germany…

{who doesn’t love a locket full of vintage rhinestones?}

…so I left her as she was—dirt and all—just to remind me of her story.

This clean and lovely Charlotte head is a “new” antique—made and sold by the lovely and creative Lisa M. Pace….

{wish it wasn’t so hard to take a good picture of something under glass!}

I love my little Charlottes in their new, be-spangled locket homes.  Both the old girl and the new girl, both are beautiful in their own, unique ways…they make me very, very happy…
