Life on the Farm…

Farm Fresh_edited-1

Hello, my friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend…ours was busy and oh, so fun!

A short post today, as I’m trying to get ready for a trip tomorrow…

Dad & Mom 3 2010

My sweet husband is giving me the gift of time with my parents for my birthday this week…what a thoughtful man!  I’ll be heading to my folks’ house for most of the week, with the added benefit of being in the same place as my college girl—lots of fun planned!

Two cards made to show you some fun new images from Crafty Secrets…here’s a little sneak peek…

…just one of the four sides of the fabulous new “Farm Fresh” Creative Scraps that will be available soon…aren’t they wonderful?!

Here’s what I came up with…first:

“Farm Grown Love”, it says…sweet and simple…my daughter says the image reminds her of Ichabod Crane…me, too!

No glitter on this one…simple, homespun colors and prints…a single, slender line of lacy hearts and rustic twine with a few vintage mother-of-pearl buttons are the only embellishments here…

Reminds me, of course, of an old family photo…Asahel and Pauline, my great-grandparents, were farmers, as well…and very much in love…

Asahel Henry & Pauline Udall Smith

…here they are, in their younger years, ready for church…the only time you’d find Asahel in a suit!

Asahel & Pauline in their Sunday best

And again, much later in life on yet another Sunday in their very best…Farm Grown Love in it’s truest sense…

Another Farm Fresh card…

“Country Girls are Well Preserved”, it claims…

Again, I kept it fairly simple…adding a pretty lace border, a few paper roses, spritzed with “Creme de Chocolat” Glimmer Mist, and some vintage seam binding that I colored to match with “Chocolate Covered Cherries” and “Red Velvet” Glimmer Mist…

I love that the image…

…reminded me once again of Pauline…

…much later in life here, and after her dear companion had passed away, she traveled to Europe with her cousin Dora.  I’ll bet this country girl would never have imagined in her younger days that she would ever make such a trip…a dream come true…

“Well-preserved”, indeed!

I hope you all have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you when I get back!
