Hello, my friends!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend…ours was busy and oh, so fun!
A short post today, as I’m trying to get ready for a trip tomorrow…
My sweet husband is giving me the gift of time with my parents for my birthday this week…what a thoughtful man! I’ll be heading to my folks’ house for most of the week, with the added benefit of being in the same place as my college girl—lots of fun planned!
Two cards made to show you some fun new images from Crafty Secrets…here’s a little sneak peek…
…just one of the four sides of the fabulous new “Farm Fresh” Creative Scraps that will be available soon…aren’t they wonderful?!
Here’s what I came up with…first:
“Farm Grown Love”, it says…sweet and simple…my daughter says the image reminds her of Ichabod Crane…me, too!
No glitter on this one…simple, homespun colors and prints…a single, slender line of lacy hearts and rustic twine with a few vintage mother-of-pearl buttons are the only embellishments here…
Reminds me, of course, of an old family photo…Asahel and Pauline, my great-grandparents, were farmers, as well…and very much in love…
…here they are, in their younger years, ready for church…the only time you’d find Asahel in a suit!
And again, much later in life on yet another Sunday in their very best…Farm Grown Love in it’s truest sense…
Another Farm Fresh card…
“Country Girls are Well Preserved”, it claims…
Again, I kept it fairly simple…adding a pretty lace border, a few paper roses, spritzed with “Creme de Chocolat” Glimmer Mist, and some vintage seam binding that I colored to match with “Chocolate Covered Cherries” and “Red Velvet” Glimmer Mist…
I love that the image…
…reminded me once again of Pauline…
…much later in life here, and after her dear companion had passed away, she traveled to Europe with her cousin Dora. I’ll bet this country girl would never have imagined in her younger days that she would ever make such a trip…a dream come true…
“Well-preserved”, indeed!
I hope you all have a wonderful week, and I’ll see you when I get back!
Julie

Julie, you will have such a wonderful time with your parents and your daughter! What a special Birthday gift! I can't wait to see what you share with us when you get back. I love these newest cards of yours, of course! They are sooooo homespun and country looking. I adore that! You never cease to amaze me with your card creating talents! You are surely blessed with a wonderfully creative eye! Lots of love coming your way from wet England on this cold January morning. Happy journies and safe travels! xxoo
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful birthday and visit with your mom and dad. That's just what I would like for my birthday--a visit with your folks. How well I remember the excitement at our house this very week waiting for the best phone call ever--your arrival!! We didn't want to leave the house in case we would miss your Dad's call. Love the pictures of Grandma and Grandpa. Hate to admit that I remember well the "going away" party the family had before Grandma left on her trip--she was so excited.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!!!
