Oh, so many fun things to do in this life!
Here’s just another one…something I’ve been meaning to begin for so long…
Art Journaling…I was so very intimidated to first put pen to thick, nubby paper…
WHY???
May I just say, that now that I’ve begun it, I may never, never stop!
So liberating, so creative, so messy, so….FUN!!!
{corner flourish stamp from Crafty Secrets’ “Flourishes” set}
Thoughts jumbled one on top of the other…doodles popping right out of my head, down through my hand onto paper…I feel just like a little girl again!
Backgrounds painted with my never favorite find…iridescent water colors! Found at Michaels, they’re my new best toy…
{stamp from Crafty Secrets’ “Art Studio” set}
Piles of things to fill in the spaces with…favorite quotes, thoughts, stamps, images…lace, buttons, do-dads & knick-knacks of all kinds, random bits of sparkle whenever & wherever the sparkle muse dictates…the sky’s the limit!
{a simple border of “Linen” Tinted Tape from Vintage Street Market…just the thing!}
I’ll be sharing these sheets as I make them…my book getting fatter & more filled with experiments, thoughts, notions, dreams & very important nonsense…
{lovely vintage label from Crafty Secrets’ “Creating with Vintage Illustrations” CD}
…who knows what I might learn in the process?!
And all I keep thinking is…
What took me so long?!?

And may I wish my dear Mother the happiest of Mother’s Days…
…you gave me life--have filled my life with love and the wonder of learning…and you continue to inspire and encourage me, each and every day of my life…I love you, Mom.
Happy Mother's Day wishes to ALL you beautiful and creative mothers out there…you inspire me, too.
Julie
I love, love your art journal Julie!! I have tried several times to start one, and just never knew how to get going. Then when I did get something on the page, I didn't like it, and gave up. I love how you have used favorite quotes, and can see how that would really help me. May I please borrow your wonderful idea?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful journal.
These are just lovely Julie and good for you to start one of these albums I've always admired them myself but have never done one either.

ReplyDeleteJulie, you are so talented and creative! I want to art journal too, but every time I try I just can't seem to do it. I used to doodle. I used to draw. But now it does not come easy to me at all. Have fun! And have a very happy mother's day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteI too have wanted to do Journals & Journal pages but, I've been leary. Leary & Longing... maybe that should be my first page. Hee Hee. I made a Journal in a Jeanne Oliver class at the "Tiffany" Event I just went to. I LOVED IT! I have been leary of writing down my thoughts. For others to read??? For me to read??? I shared with her that some friends I have talked to have loved the journals (mother/grandmother) that they have read yet others said they knew things they wish they didn't know. I think I want to try this. I would love to hear more about the new paints you love. HUGS!

Your art journal is so cute...
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the doodles and the nice quotes.
I say its time not wasted.
That does look like it would be fun to just write stuff on paper, doodle as you say.
ReplyDeleteI doodle all the time on paper.....but still doesn't look quite as creative as what you are able to accomplish.
You will always CREATE
I....well.......just doodle.
Julie, I don't know you but I hope to. I'm following by email. I love the theme your journal seems to be taking. I'm so proud of you for jumping in and look forward to following it's progress.
