Hello Friend

DSC01908_edited-1

Good morning, my friends!

It’s raining cats & dogs here on California’s central coast today…hope things are a little better where you are! {I secretly love a good downpour, though…we don’t get them very often!}

Just one project to share with you today using the fabulously retro "Dimestore Vogue" Paper Sheets and Tags" kit from Vintage Street Market...

Dimestore Vogue

…I just love it!

Today, just a card for a dear friend...

I did a bit of patchwork as the base of the card, with some of the sweet gingham print and the pattern paper as background...

A friendly little "hello" using one of the button images from one of the paper sheets, and my own typed sentiment, edged with a bit of Platinum Stickles

I punched border of xxx’s on the  beautiful aqua foil sheet to add to the sewing theme of the card, using one of my new toys…an “x” border punch from Recollections…so fun!

One of the  beautiful "models" cut out as the focal point of the  card...love these images!

A bit of the "Linen" Tinted Tape along the number line on the side for just a bit of aging and interest...

A little collection of tags, a button from the tag sheet, and a single posy...gathered up and tied in place with some of yummy "Pink Sorbet" Baker's Twine...

...a gathered edging of the gorgeous brown crepe sheet...sewed in place and edged with Platinum Stickles...

Now, of course, I have to add a couple of adorable photos of my Mom…

FAM HIST 3 (11)

…the retro fashion images in this kit always bring her photos to my mind…here she is in her new Easter dress, about 1955…

FAM HIST 3 (98)_edited-1

…and looking pretty sleek here…I just LOVE her fabulous 50’s style! (She’s still pretty stylish, I must say!)

Well, that's it for me today.  Hope your day is filled with everything wonderful…

See you soon with something new.

Julie

  1. This is a great card. Where did you find your model? She is a good representative of the women of her era. I like those dresses, hope they come back in style soon.

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hi Julie,

Great card....very pretty. I have to laugh as the first image of your mom has a mallard duck down in the bottom left corner. While young and growing up first in Scottsdale, we had a pet mallard that we hatched from an egg that one of my brothers found in Encanto Park. Thanks for the funny memory reminder. Your sculpture is going to be slightly smaller than I normally make as it's structure is unique and safer on a smaller scale. It will probably be between 6-8 inches tall.

    Hugs,
    Meri

  3. Hi Friend! Enjoy the rain. We had just a few little sprinkles today. Glad it cleared as tomorrow we are having an International Festival at school and everyone was setting up their booths this afternoon. Good weather is required for a successful event. :) Happy day to you. Tammy

  4. Julie... you sure are right about the rain...OMgosh I can't believe how heavy it's coming down, but.... I like you, really enjoy rain! It's so cozy to sit inside with a nice fire, crafting listening to the rain dance or stomp on the roof.
Lovely sweet card you made...you are so creative. Enjoy your day.

  13. Beautiful artwork! Love the pictures of your mom. So neat to see all of your vintage pictures. Neither of my parent's families took a lot of pictures so we don't have many pictures at all.

    Have a great week.

  18. Such a beautiful card, once again Julie. YOu amaze me. I wish women still dressed with such care and style. Yes, when I was a little girl I wanted to be June Cleaver and Aunt Bea. I think I ended up more like Aunt Bea, at least size wise! Your mum was and is a beautiful lady as are you! I send oodles of love to you in rainy california on a sunny English day. It seems we have changed climates! For a little while at least! xxoo

  27. Dear Julie, just loving your mother and her style, how gorgeous she looks!!!
I had to read some comments to understand "it´s raining cats and dogs" jajaja!!! first I thought you were having lots of hot but it was not possible because you are just entering spring... but who knows these days... now I know it means you had lots and lots of rain which would be very good here in chile though.
    The card is so pretty!!!!
    hugs my dear
