Good morning, my friends!
A beautiful day here near the coast…a bit foggy, but we’re used to that here in the summer…
I’ve been looking out my window at my roses that need pruning and dead-heading…my fruit that needs picking…my flowers surrounded by weeds…Too many summer vacations can really make your garden OVERgrow!
Well, instead of getting my hands dirty and going out to do something about it, I did what any addicted to cardmaking woman would do…make some garden cards!
Here’s what I have for you today…first:
This is to remind me of what I SHOULD be doing today…! I love this beautiful collage image and designer paper from Graphic 45—so very vintage!
Lace, ribbon, and vintage buttons, as usual…a layered flower made with different-sized circle scallop punches. I just cut between each scallop to make the flower—so easy! Lots of platinum Stickles, a touch or two of Dazzling Diamonds, and we’re all done!
Next, another one of my favorite playthings…Vicki Chrisman’s 3D Shadowbox die, available precut from Crafty Secrets—LOVE these!
Here’s a few close-ups…all the images are from Crafty Secrets’ “Birds and Blossoms” Images & Journal Notes booklet and “Calendar” Creative Scraps…
The first panel…
…and the center…love that gorgeous vintage birdie! And what about those sumptuously glittered Prima flowers?! And the leafy trim—yummy!
…last panel…big, fat, cabbagey roses…just the way I love them!
Lots of lace, of course…gingham ribbon and crystal rhinestones…some of my very favorite things. I also altered the color of the central panel with Ranger’s Crackle paint. Lots of platinum Stickles, too, of course! I gave the whole thing a good, healthy spritz with “Iridescent Gold” Glimmer Mist….love it!
Well, that’s it for me today…got some more projects covering my kitchen table, so I’d better get busy!
Well, whether you decide to dirty your hands today with garden dirt or ink…just make something beautiful today!
See you soon with something new…
Julie
Looks lovely all!

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful. Too hot here for gardening so some gorgeous projects like these may be just the thing!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteHow did you get so good at these sweet little things? I always enjoy seeing your delightful creations. My garden is woefully overgrown but this weekend is supposed to be nice and cool so I'll try to get it cleaned up.
Thanks for buzzin' by! I always enjoy seeing you've stopped by.
Julie, your cards are so beautifully sweet! I just love them! I especially love the second one with those fabulous glittered flowers. You amaze me with the way you are always coming up with new ideas! You are a true artist and talent!! I know what you mean about gardens taking off while you are on holidays. After three weeks in Canada we came back to a jungle!! It's lovely though. All too soon the leaves will be changing and things will be dying out. Lots of love to you on this lovely August day, and loads of huggles too!! XXOO
ReplyDeletewonderful cards! I almost always would chose creating over gardening! Though I like to be outside and I like the garden, I just really prefer to create!
ReplyDeletehave a great weekend

Beautiful garden cards, Julie! We've been enjoying the bounty of our friends' gardens this year, as we're still working on our front porch project. Next year we hope to put in a square foot garden. Yum!
ReplyDeleteJulie, I love your pretty cards. I believe, its wonderfull to live in California. I've visit L.A. and San Fransisco 2 times and I was so exited. You are lucky you live there.
ReplyDeleteI live in Athens, Greece.
With my love
Betty
Well, you've hit two of my very favorites with this one, birds and blooms!! Just gorgeously lovely, as always! Thanks so much for sharing! Suddenly, I have a hankering to get some DIRT under my fingernails in the garden!!
ReplyDeleteLoved every single one of these!

I love your shadowbox and your card!
ReplyDeleteMy weeds were getting out of control, too and the kids helped me for an entire day and now they're undercontrol. It is such a dreaded job!
Love Graphic 45!
Julie, I will be happy if you want to give you my hospitality, whenever you want to visit Greece.

Absolutely beautiful Julie! It's so hard to drag yourself from the craft table isn't it!
