Nestled in the rolling hills of Woodside, California, lies a secret…at least it was to me…
…a magical place called Filoli. House and gardens that fill the mind, bless the senses, and make for the most glorious of days--and I’d love to share just a little bit of it with you.
Buds bursting and waiting for their turn to bloom…
…tulips & forget-me-nots mingled in perfect profusion…
…peeks of springtime colors through lovely architectural bits…
…and the wisteria—Oh! the wisteria!
Even the weeds—and there weren’t many, I promise you!—held their own in beauty…
The moment my eyes fell on this one, below, my subconscious said, “persistence”…
No matter which direction we looked, gorgeous vistas—planned and natural…
…incredible borders…
…buttery tulips and sweet columbines were very happy companions here…
Sensory overload, everywhere we turned…
And always present—the beautiful clock tower—keeping watch over all…
…from the perfect symmetry of a single bloom…
…to masses of perfect blooms…
……………………………sigh…………………………..
…and what joy to just get lost as we wandered through tall, grassy fields exploding with daffodils…
I spent the day wishing I had some way to record the scents as I passed through this paradise…
And the best part of all?
Seeing the beautiful faces of beautiful friends as we walked through the glories of Spring together…
Wishing you all the beauties of the season,
Julie
