What a joy to have a Christmas journal—I find myself sitting with it while watching old movies with my family—reminiscing & doodling away about Christmases past & not-so-far-away past…
{I love nativity sets & have quite a few. For years I’ve left one out all year long—just to remind me of the reason for it all…}
About things & traditions near & dear to my heart…
…ways in which the season has influenced our family’s life in very real ways…
…memories of all the years I can remember of finding that “perfect” Christmas tree…
…sometimes just illustrating a favorite Christmas carol or thought…
I’m finding it’s helping me keep the spirit of Christmas very close to my heart this year…
Wishing you the warmest & happiest of Christmas reminiscing…
Julie
So lovely, just like you.
ReplyDeleteMerry Holidays,

I just love your art journal posts. I am planning to start one after the 1st. What class do you recommend first from Hope, what kind of book do you use? I am really excited about this, but I have to buckle down and finish my December Daily. I can't stop obsessing over journalling posts though. Hee hee, beautiful pages!
ReplyDeleteHi Holly! I tried to find an email address for you, but couldn't--so hopefully you'll see this!
DeleteI have two different types of journals I'm enjoying using right now--a watercolor paper spiral journal & Moleskine journals. The Christmas journal is done in a Moleskine. I love how soft the paper is & how lovely the pens feel on the paper when writing--I use Sharpie fine & medium pens (the "no-bleed" type)...although a little "bleeding" does show through--but that doesn't really bother me!
Hope is so inspiring! I've signed up for two of her classes--the "Parlour Journal", which is a wonderful one--even can purchase supplies, if they're still available! Also I took one of her other classes (can't remember which one!) that you can find on her "Besottment" blog (on my sidebar).
I don't really follow anybody's instructions exactly, but get ideas for techniques and inspiration...mostly I just do what I want to do!
Hope this helps! Can't wait to see what you do when you start your journaling adventure, Holly!

Of course I love your Christmas journal! I used that same cut your own tree in my Christmas journal! I love your story and how you look back at those wonderful memories and now to have your own traditions! Thank You for sharing your story!

Your Christmas journal is so lovely and I really enjoy your posts about it!
ReplyDeleteJulie you are such a talent with these journals you write. Your doodling is wonderful. Everytime I see this I want to start my own, I think I will order a moleskin today. The story about picking the tree was so sweet and the owner of the little town lot said he was hoping people would feel it was something from the past!
ReplyDeleteHi Julie,
ReplyDeleteA Christmas journal...so lovely. The perfect keepsake. The pretty vintage ornaments and images add the nicest touch to your Christmas memories. So sweet.
