Good afternoon, my friends!
It’s pretty gloomy here in central California today…the clouds are filled with rain and just ready to burst! (I secretly love days like this!)
Well, as my title says today, just sending some love your way today…not much to talk about, just a couple of cards and a warm hello to each and every one of you!
Here’s my first card:
This beautiful vintage image is from Crafty Secrets’ new “Calendar” Creative Scraps—there are now more gorgeous images on the back!
Isn’t it beautiful?!
I just typed up my own sentiment on the computer, added some beautiful black lace, PTI black grosgrain and satiny white ribbon..
…lots of Platinum Stickles just everywhere…Dazzling Diamonds on the image, and some gorgeous chunky clear German glass glitter on the beautiful Prima flowers.
Next, something a little different…
Isn’t this fun?! “Let them eat cupcakes”…love that! This is from Kristin Hubick at Retro Cafe’ Art….so many great images!
Marie is usually kept to all the sumptuous, soft pastel colors in artwork…I felt like she needed to pop a bit more on some black—I like it!
Black and pink grosgrain ribbon, black sequins backing fabulous crystal rhinestones…
…lots of Platinum Stickles again…I’m just a little hooked on that stuff! Dazzling Diamonds, again…pretty much everywhere…and that’s about it!
I love the way colored images—especially vintage ones—just pop off the page when backed with black. My tastes have really been influenced by my Mom…she’s an amazing artist and so great with color…
She would always choose things backed in black, I would usually go for the same things backed in white or cream….she eventually swayed me over to the “dark side”! (Never admitted that to her yet…ssssshhhhhhh!)
Well, that’s all for today…hope the day is beautiful for you, no matter the weather!
See you soon with something new…
Julie
Beautiful!!! The second one ... I can't find words to express how much I like it.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day, Julie:)
these are beautiful! that second image with the cupcake is too cute!
ReplyDeleteHello Julie... that top card is my favorite... sooo pretty! Sorry it is rainy and gloomy there for you, (even though you say you like those days!)... we finally have sunshine and warm weather today after yesterday's SNOW! xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteJulie, I absolutely agree with black! Even my very simple style of paper crafting usually has black somewhere. I think it is my favorite accent color! EAK! I can see my reminder button on your sidebar reminding ME that I have to finish my own postcards! I have lost all steam for this swap. Some days it's just fun to visit and take in all the beautiful artwork! Have a lovely week ahead! E
ReplyDeleteBeautiful projects, Julie!! I love the idea of Marie Antoinette cupcake picks.... how perfectly ironic and wicked! :) Very pretty, too! :)
ReplyDeleteAs always, you come up with the most beautiful cards, Julie. Please send some rain our way. I'm watering the neighbors MANY flowers while they're vacationing in Alaska for three weeks. And I need some help!

ReplyDeletei was just noticing books you've read and saw katherine howe. i haven't read her book but i attended a luncheon last summer where she spoke. she was so interesting, young and smart.
It just turned cloudy here in the valley about 2 hours ago. Got a few sprinkles on my drive home. Your cards are so sweet - I've been catching up and I love how you just segue from an adorable card to a fascinating story of your family. I wish mine had wanted to share the stories of their lives with us. They were always much too reticent. Thank you for sharing your stories!
ReplyDeleteLots of rain here too...oh how I adore your cards...black and pink together is my favourite. Hugs for a great week. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely.....its here sunny wether...lots off sun.
ReplyDeleteHugs,Willy
Julie, once again you amaze me with your creative talents! I love both cards and the colours are magnificent. I think Black and pink are really special together!! You have showcased this pairing beautifully!!! We have been enjoying lovely sunny and warm weather lately, but I expect that it is about to change . . . oh well, it can't stay sunny all the time I guess or we would not appreciate it for the gift that it is!! I am sending lots of love and hugs across to you this morning!! Hope you can feel them sweet friend! xxoo

So different but equally lovely. The cupcake is cute! I am sure Scotland is keeping all the sunshine to itself as elsewhere it is either raining or snowing. Enjoy your rainclouds! Lynne M
ReplyDeleteHappy day to you! Many folks are doing granny squares with a black border and I just love it. I just can't figure out the granny squares! :) When I was a kg teacher, I always displayed the kids artwork on black construction paper. It always made a perfect frame for whatever they might have created. Your cards are always beautiful! Have a wonderful Wednesday, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI always love coming over here to see what you're up to, rainy days allow me to get a lot accomplished! Beautiful collages with the black background!
