Jumbled

DSC02660_edited-1

The mind is a funny thing.  So much swirling around in there…things to do, people to see, words to say…the past, the present, the future—all combined in our head.

No wonder it’s hard to focus sometimes!

I think that’s one of the reasons I’ve come to love journaling so much…

…not only does it fulfill my creative needs—painting, pasting, writing, getting messy--but it gives my thoughts and memories have a place to spill out.  Organize.  Imagine.  Play.

Memories of those I’ve loved, things I’ve done, thoughts I’ve had…

…combined with the thoughts and ideas of those much, much wiser than myself.  Thoughts which then become part of me.

All these words, images & messes jumble out together on page after page.

And they make me very, very happy.

Just a Spoonful of Sparkle

DSC02581_edited-1

This lazy early March afternoon was a bit gloomy for picture-taking, but the sparkle on my subjects made me forget all about it…

A bit more fun recently playing with a few of my favorite things—a recent discovery: Lisa M. Pace’s gorgeously inspiring doll heads, for one, and a few of my favorite adornments, for another!

Vintage spoons were painted with black gesso (another new favorite toy!), then each was lined with a favorite sparkle: vintage pearls, brilliant rhinestones, or real silver German glitter…

I’m quite happy with this little trio…think I’ll playing with more very soon!

Wishing you plenty of sparkle in your day!

Connected

memories_edited-2

A bit of time for some journaling this last week…pages already painted and pictures pasted were all ready for the thoughts that come while sitting and thinking…

…from those crazy days when we feel like we’re swinging from one trapeze to another…

…to peaceful, soft and lovely poetry from William Blake.

Thoughts of self-improvement and progression can’t help but pop up in your mind as you reflect on a page just waiting for such thoughts to come out…

cheerfulness_edited-1

Bright colors painted and stamped just begged for words of cheerfulness…and Joseph Addison perfectly provided the quote required…

the past_edited-1

Sometimes the lovely faces I choose to illustrate my pages remind me of things about myself that my inner self knows, but my outer self sometimes forgets in the mad rush of days…

I have always felt very, very connected to the past.  And that, I suppose, is what this little blog of mine is all about--

That connection.

See you soon with something new…
