Crafty Secrets DT---New Product Show-Offs...AND a Giveaway!!!

Good morning, my friends!

Believe it or not, I'm STILL on vacation--a long one this year!

I have managed, however, to sneak a few moments here and there over the last few weeks to create a few things with all the fabulous new products being released by Crafty Secrets...and that's what I'll be sharing with you today!

Charms, decorative wall hangings, cards...so many fun things you can do with the gorgeous new "Mini Vintage" Creative Scraps...you are SO going to love this new set!

Here are a few things I made...

Three ready-to-wear charms...simple and so much fun to make!  Add a bit of seam binding, cord, or a perfect chain...and you're ready to go!

A beautiful French lady in a locket...trimmed from a larger image in the scraps...just perfect for this more ornate brass charm...

A little girl sings with the sweet little birds in her summer garden....this took me only about 5 minutes to put together...

...a larger scrap cut to fit the frame, cut from the backside of the scraps sheet...topped with the little girl's garden image...edged with "Vintage Photo" Distress Ink...a bit of Platinum Stickles surrounding it for a bit of sparkle...covered with a clear glaze, and that's it!

I then just added a lovely bit of wired ribbon and a few found metal flowers for an accent...easy peasy!

Another fun little accent piece using the "Mini Vintage" Creative Scraps, a large "bottle cap" for the frame, and Crafty Secrets' lovely new "Queen Bee" stamp set--I just LOVE this one!

 Now...how about a few cards?

First--from the new and oh, so adorable "Birds of Happiness" stamp set...

...a sweet, tiny card made with one of my favorite new images...

...this charming little "Cup of Joy" girl sits in a pretty little teacup.  I used two different paper patterns from the fabulous new "Creating with Vintage Patterns" CD--another new offering from Crafty Secrets --just wait till you try this!

And for the men in your life...how about a little vintage baseball?  Crafty Secrets' new "Play Ball" stamp set is just filled with wonderful images and sayings to use for any manly occasion!

Two more masculine-style prints and a piece of "journal paper"taken from the CD for my backgrounds...I stamped the vintage baseball card twice, cut out the player...colored him & put him back in place on the card....giving it just a pop of color & some dimension...

And another one of my very favorite new sets...

...isn't this fabulous?!  Here's what I came up with:

...a sweet little set of keys...tied with "ribbons" complete with words that make up your "Keys to Life"...family, love, joy, gratitude...and so many more!

Again, I used two different prints from the new CD--you won't believe how many choices you'll have just at the push of a button!

So many new & wonderful vintage-inspired products to create with!!!

Simply Charming

Hello, my friends!

It's been a while, hasn't it?! I've been away from home for a while with my family...my poor husband has had to return home to work, but the girls and I are still having a wonderful time with family...

I just wanted to pop in and share with you a some things I made the other night--had to sneak in a LITTLE crafting while I'm here!

A few sweet little charms made with Crafty Secrets' brand new, VERY soon-to-be-available "Mini-Vintage" Creative Scraps...

...you're so going to LOVE creating with these!!!

Just a few necklaces made for sisters, Mom...and myself, of course!  Just some found charms, a bit of Platinum Stickles, a clear epoxy tile fitting perfectly on top of the whole thing...

...tie it up with a bit of luscious seam binding, and that's about it!

That's it for today...but I'll be back soon with more to share & just to say hello!  Hope you're all enjoying a wonderfully charming summer filled with fun, family & relaxation...

Crafty Secrets DT Challenge—Childhood

DSC03898_edited-1

I had an enchanted childhood…I really did…Sometimes I feel like I’m still having one!

My amazing mother made sure my younger years were filled with every childhood joy…every magical experience that could be had was had…

She continues to give her grandchildren that beautiful type of childhood—no matter how old they are!  Her home is an enchanted place to be…for young and old alike…I always feel like a child again when I return home…

This month’s Crafty Secrets Design Team Challenge celebrates CHILDHOOD—what a fun thing to do!

For my project, I chose to do a layout of some of my favorite childhood photos…

I love making copies of favorite family photos and cutting the people out silhouette or “paper doll” style…makes them really “live” for me!

As I cut these images of my childhood self out and placed them here and there on my layout, I kept finding myself giggling…the little girl in me coming out as I played with my very own personal paper dolls…

The sweetly delightful paper I used for my layout comes from Crafty Secrets’ new “Vintage Paper Patterns” CD…you will LOVE using this!

I printed the transparent “Swiss Dots” print twice—once on a soft pink & once on white cardstock…I cut out the center of the white piece, leaving the adorable scalloped  border intact—which I used to frame my piece…easy peasy!

What is about vintage millinery flowers that makes me feel like a little girl when I see them? I found these delightful flocked ones at a yard sale last week—bunches of them tucked into an old sewing box…what a wonderful treasure found…

This sweet vintage childhood image and journaling sheet were taken from Crafty Secrets’ “Childhood” Images & Journal Notes booklet…

I found the most wonderful old story about childhood the other day that I wanted to share with you—It was written by a man named Arthur Gordon and I believe it took place in the 1940’s…

“When I was around thirteen and my brother ten, Father had promised to take us to the circus.  But at lunchtime, there was a phone call; some urgent business required his attention downtown.

“We braced ourselves for disappointment….then we heard him say (into the phone), ‘No, I won’t be down.  It’ll have to wait.’

“When he came back to the table, Mother smiled and said, ‘The circus keeps coming back, you know…’

“’I know,’ said Father, ‘but childhood doesn’t.”

With that wonderful example to learn from, I’m attempting to enjoy every moment of the summer right now with my sweet daughters, nieces, nephews and even the old “kids”…there won’t be much blogging for me for a couple more weeks—childhood won’t wait…

…but I’ll be back very soon!
